> The Bacchus Cup Chunwon Lee Chang-ho 9 dan
The 5th Chunwon trophy was sponsored by Donga Pharmaceuticals Ltd., and Sports Chosun (daily newspaper), with a total prize fund of 120 million won of which 11 million won goes to the winner. The main tournament is a 16-player knockout and a best-of-five final with the current title-holder joining play in the first round. The winner of the Cup usually plays the Chinese equivalent Tianyuan in a semi-friendly match. This style of tournament makes it difficult to retain the title, but Lee Chang-ho managed to win four consecutive titles. The 2000 running is not yet concluded.

> The KBS Badukwang Cho Hoon-hyun 9 dan

The 19th KBS Cup, sponsored by the Korean Broadcasting Service, is the unique televised quickplay tournament, with a prize fund totaling 89 million won of which 11 million won goes to the winner. The main tournament is a 20-player double elimination knockout, with the previous champion playing from the first round. Each player has a time limit of 10 minutes. In overtime a player may always consider a move for up to 30 seconds, and on the fifth move over 30 seconds that player loses. The finalists qualify as the Korean entries to the TV Asian Baduk Tournament.
In 1999 Cho Hoon-hyun won the KBS Cup by beating his only student Lee Chang-ho in two straight games.
