> The SK Cup Myeongin Lee Chang-ho 9 dan
	The 34th Myeongin title is sponsored by the Hanguk Daily News and the SK Group, with a prize fund of 200 million won of which 24 million won goes to the winner. Previously the main tournament was a 16-player knockout, but it is now 8-player league. The final between Lee Chang-ho and the challenger Cho Hoon-hyun had not concluded at the time of going to press (2-0 to Lee). Last year Lee Chang-ho retained the title by beating Choi Myeong-hun three games to one.

> The Hyundai Car Cup Kisung Lee Chang-ho 9 dan
The 12th Kisung title sponsored by the Sheg' ye (World) daily newspaper and Hyundai Car Ltd., used to be the richest tournament until the IMF crisis, and has now attracted new sponsorship. A first prize of 24 million won is found from a total fund of 200 million won. The main tournament is a 16-player knockout and best-of-five final from this year. Lee Chang-ho held the title for the eighth year running by beating Choi Gyu-byung two games to one.
