> The Wangwi Lee Chang-ho 9 dan
The 34th Wangwi Trophy of 2000 was sponsored by Joongang Daily News and Samsung Electronics Ltd., with a prize fund of 230 million won of which 30 million won goes to the winner. In the past this was the richest title. The main tournament is an 8-player league (all-play-all) to find a challenger to the holder; the bottom four drop out, the top four are guaranteed a place the following year and the final is a best-of-five. Lee Chang-ho beat Seo Bong-su to retain the title for the fifth time, becoming an honorary Wangwi.

 

> The n016 Cup Paedal-wang Yu Chang-hyuk 9 dan

The 8th Paedal-wang title, sponsored by the Korean Economic Daily News, Hanguk Tongshin Hitel and Hanguk Tongshin Freetel Ltd., with a prize fund of 200 million won of which 30 million won goes to the winner, was the first cyberspace tournament. The main tournament is a 16-player knockout and a best-of-five final. All the games are broadcast live on the Internet. In 1999 Yu Chang-hyuk retained the title, beating Cho Hoon-hyun in three straight games.
