World's Top 10 Baduk Players

- Controversy in the early history of world Baduk rankings

The Japanese, who had been silent, eventually announced a list of the "world' s top 10 professionals", recognizing highly ranked Korean players. Cho Hoon-hyun and Lee Chang-ho were ranked 1st and 2nd, followed by Takemiya, Lin haipung, and Cho Chi-hoon. Yu Chang-hyuk and Seo Bong-soo were also ranked within top 10. Japan finally raised the white flag, and acknowledged what had been objectively shown by the history of the competitions. This is how the controversy in the early history of the ranking process was finally settled.

However, China provided the final international account of the century, including 6 major competitions and the TV Asia Baduk championship (with a major competition win worth 2 points and a TV Asia win worth 1 point). Lee Chang-ho, Cho Hoon-hyun, Yu Chan-hyuk were ranked 1st to 3rd, followed by Ma Shaochoon of China and Takemiya of Japan. China, which was the third in rank, also recognized Korea as the world' s best.
